Obudu mountain resort is located in Obanliku local government area of . It is a very popular place because of the annual mountain race that takes place there. It is also become very popular when the Gulder Ultimate search was conducted there few years back.

Recently I lost my father in-law and I had to travel with my wife to Bebuekayang (in Obanliku L.G.A) for the burial ceremony. We arrived there on Tuesday 25 th may, 2010 and decided to quickly visit the resort (same as Obudu Ranch Resort) before the commencement of the burial which was slated for 28 th and 29 th of May, 2010

On Wednesday morning (26 th May, 2010) we moved from Bebuekayang (in company of my pastor) for the Ranch resort. It was such a pleasurable ride; my cousin-in-law, who happens to be the vice chairman of the local government, took us in his Ford jeep. We came across such beautiful places as Sankwala the local government headquarters, Bugene, Beegbong, Bebi (where the airport is located), Utanga where you have the popular stone market and the safari lodge; Amana, etc. We finally arrived at the bottom of the hill after 50km of ride.

We proceeded from the hill bottom through the snaky roads, up the rocky hills which is 10km from bottom to top (making a total of 60km from Sankwala junction to the top of the mountain). We saw Gods wonders: waterfalls, solid rocks, valleys running down the beautiful mountains, and the famous point referred to as the Devils elbow because of the way the point is naturally shaped. We even bought fresh cucumbers from a woman whom we met washing them in road side stream.

We finally got to the peak of the mountain, and behold, a wonderful place to visit. The place was donned with beautiful networks of smooth roads, beautiful flowers, fine architectural designs, the near and distant hill; and other places of attraction. The place we visited included the African Bungalows, Presidential lodge, Golf course, Lawn tennis courts, Military barracks (yet to be commissioned), Dairy factory, Honey factory, etc. We took several pictures, and on our way down, we rode on the famous cable car. From the cable car, we could see the beautiful terrain, the nearby villages, the snaky roads and the valleys. We took some photograph from the car as well.

On the 31 st May, 2010, I made a return visit; but this time around, in the company of my wife and her brother-in-law (our pastor had gone back to ). When we got there, we met the surprise of our lives. As we approached the top of the mountains there was dew every where and visibility was very poor; bikes and cars all put on their head lamps and the whole place was wet. We got there at about 11:17am: as soon as we landed it began to rain and rained till 5:00pm. We could not take any photographs or visit places that we couldn't visit the first time. You could hardly see somebody 3 meters away from you. After 5:00pm the rain stopped and visibility improved. I snapped my wife some photos at some few places but we could not visit places like the canopy walkway, the natural water fall and the swimming pools because the place was extremely cold by that time. However, we were able to visit the international conference center, Banana village, Dukes lodge, Abebes lodge, primary and secondary schools, Ranch clinic, the fire fighting stations, the new market at the Kigo village, the popular Ikejuku village, where we bought some delicious mushrooms. The ranch where the cows are kept and the junior and senior staff quarters. We also saw horses and cattle which are controlled by the Hausa-Fulani herdsmen grazing in the fields.

We left the Ranch thereafter for Bebuekayang. Few days later we returned to . I will never forget my trip to Obudu Mountain Resort. I hope to visit there again when I am on holidays.
