Love making means a different thing to the man and the woman. One does not see sex the same way the other sees it; this is because of their differences in composition. Unless the wife understands what lovemaking means to her husband there may be regular conflict in their marriage.
According to Tim and Beverly LaHaye, the act of marriage is vitally significant to the husband for at least five different reasons:
- It satisfies his sex drive: The males in all species of living creatures exhibit a stronger and almost continual sex drive. The females have a strong sex drive as well but it is only sporadic. Man is designed to be the aggressor, provider and leader of the family; somehow that is tied to his sex drive.
- It fulfils his manhood: The man possesses a stronger ego than the woman and his sex drive is linked to his ego. A man who is sexually satisfied would rapidly develop self-confidence in other spheres of life. The man finds fulfillment in knowing that he is able to sexually satisfy his wife. This will in turn make him feel secure and love his family the more.
- It enhances his love for his wife: The satisfactory release of the intense sex drive God has put in a man without provoking his conscience enhances his love for his wife through whom this is made possible. A love syndrome exists between married partners when their love making is mutually satisfying. Sex is such a necessary part of a man's life and married love preserves the innocence of his conscience; the woman who provides these for him will increasingly become the object of his love.
- It reduces friction in the home: A sexually satisfied man is usually a contented man, and sexual satisfaction helps to reduce minor irritations in marriage. When there is sexual harmony, the world looks better to a man and his difficulties shrink to life size.
- It provides life's most exciting experience: The aggressive nature of men makes them engage in all forms of physical activities such as football, sky diving, sky jumping, basket ball, rowing, etc but none of these would ever give the physical and emotional satisfaction that sex gives in marriage. Sex by far produces the sweetest ecstasy and the most exciting experience that man ever enjoys. It takes all the glands in the body to such a wonderful height; produces the sweetest sensation and fantastic excitement as the man releases his semen into the object of his love- his wife.
